GENERAL WASHING INSTRUCTIONS

Simple steps to care for your clothes and the planet. Taking proper care of your garments not only helps them last longer, but also reduces environmental impact. Here are our top tips for everyday washing:

Read the label Always follow the washing instructions on the garment’s care label. These guidelines are product-specific and thoroughly tested to ensure the best possible care.

Don’t over-wash Washing less often helps preserve the fabric and saves water and energy. Many times, simply airing out the garment or spot cleaning is enough to freshen it up.

Air dry instead of tumble dry Skip the dryer and hang your clothes to dry. This helps prolong the life of your garments and reduces unnecessary energy consumption.

Avoid fabric softener Fabric softeners contain chemicals that harm the environment and can reduce the performance of your clothes — especially elasticity and water-repellent functions.

Wash inside out Turn garments inside out before washing to help maintain shape and color, especially for printed items. (Note: Do not wash outerwear inside out.)

Treat stains quickly Fresh stains are easier to remove! Wash or soak as soon as possible before they set. Check out our eco-stain removal guide for natural, chemical-free solutions.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS BY MATERIAL

Cotton Cotton handles high temperatures well in both washing and ironing. However, printed garments may be affected by heat, so always follow the care label. Turn printed items inside out before washing. Avoid bleach and fabric softener, especially if the fabric contains elastane.

Modal® Modal can shrink when exposed to high temperatures, so always wash at lower settings. Avoid soaking and pre-washing, as the fibers are weaker when wet.

Wool Wool naturally refreshes itself through contact with oxygen, meaning it rarely needs to be washed. It’s also dirt-repellent and can be cleaned by airing or with a gentle wool detergent. Tip: hang the garment in a steamy bathroom after a shower to activate its self-cleaning properties.

Econyl® and Swimwear Do not wash above 40°C and avoid fabric softener, which damages elasticity. Always air dry—never tumble dry. Rinse garments in fresh water after each use to remove salt or chlorine.

Denim Denim should be washed infrequently to preserve shape and color. Airing or spot cleaning is often enough. Wash separately the first few times, as excess dye may bleed onto lighter fabrics.

Knitwear Unless otherwise stated, wash at 40°C using a laundry bag to protect from zippers and buttons. Use the delicate cycle if available. Stretch the garment gently while wet and lay flat to dry to maintain shape.

Fleece Air fleece garments whenever possible and spot-clean minor stains. If full washing is needed, use a microplastic-catching laundry bag to prevent pollution. Iron regularly on low heat (as per care label) to smooth fibers and reduce microplastic shedding.

Outerwear Wash at 40°C. Close zippers and buttons to reduce wear. Do not turn inside out—linings are more delicate than outer fabric. Skip fabric softener, as it compromises breathability and water resistance. BIONIC-FINISH ECO® water-repellent function weakens with washing but can be reactivated with low-heat ironing. Avoid direct heat on taped seams or reflectors. Tumble drying or drying cabinets are not recommended. If your garment has faux fur (e.g., hoods), brush gently to restore volume. Treat Explorer accessories the same way and apply heat after washing to maintain functionality.

Caps Do not machine wash. Hand wash with mild detergent and avoid soaking for too long to maintain shape.

Bags Close all zippers before washing. Wash below 40°C. Do not bleach or tumble dry.
