BIONIC-FINISH ECO

Chemicals are needed in all kinds of textile products including ours – from the manufacturing of raw material to dyeing, printing, final look, and function. The challenge is to avoid the toxic ones that are harmful to the environment, animals and our health. Since our products are mainly used by children, chemical management is a subject close to our hearts. We actively work to limit the use and waste of chemicals in all of our products. 

 

ECO-FRIENDLIER AND WATER REPELLANT

Most conventional water-repellent coatings on the market today contain fluorocarbons that decompose very slowly in nature, are easily spread, and nowadays found worldwide. They impair our reproductive ability and are also suspected to cause cancer. BIONIC-FINISH® ECO is a safe and environmentally better alternative free from fluorocarbons and other hazardous chemicals including PFCs (perfluorinated compounds), formaldehyde and paraffin.

The eco-friendlier water-repellent BIONIC-FINISH® ECO coating ensures that all Mini Rodini functional clothing are free from dangerous fluorocarbons and other hazardous chemicals including PFCs (perfluorinated compounds), formaldehyde and paraffin. 

 

OUR SUSTAINABLE OUTERWEAR

All Mini Rodini’s shell- and rainwear are made from GRS certified polyester and polyurethane. Polyurethane is a durable material offering stretch in all directions. GRS (Global Recycle Standard) is a certification ensuring that this garment consists of recycled materials made from, for example, PET soda bottles, discarded fishnets, and used clothes. GRS is the strictest certification for recycled material on the market today and includes rigid controls of especially chemical use and tracking, but also working conditions.

 

CLASSIC EDELWEISS

Our classic Edelweiss rainwear has taped seams and is coated with BIONIC-FINISH® ECO. Its functional and heavy-duty shell fabric is breathable with 5000 g/m2/24h and waterproof with 10 000 mm water columns. Due to its light weight and flexibility, this jacket can be used in many different settings – either separately or combined with any of our fleece jackets or a lightweight puffer jacket when it gets colder. This model is a returning Mini Rodini classic that can be used as a shell jacket, a rain jacket or a windbreaker. 

 

OUR SUSTAINABILITY WORK

Mini Rodini carries one of the most sustainable ranges on the market – our collections include 99 % products made from sustainable materials yearly. By sustainable materials, we mean non-conventional materials that have a lower impact on both nature and human health. We also have a selection of upcycled products where we reuse leftover fabric from earlier collections. Our products are only called sustainable when minimum 80 % of the composition includes non-conventional materials, compared to most others having a level of 50 % as a rule. 

Rather than having our design decisions dictating which chemicals we use, we do it the other way around. The types of chemicals we allow dictate how we design our products. For Mini Rodini, chemical safety goes before all other decisions.
