OUR PRODUCTION

We are committed to producing our garments in a way that supports both people and the planet. This means paying living wages, avoiding overproduction, and actively working to reduce our carbon footprint. We believe in being transparent about how our clothes are made – and in sharing the steps we take to improve every part of the process. Below, you can read more about our production practices.

If you have any questions, just reach out to our customer service at [email protected] – we’re always happy to share more.

UPCYCLING

At Mini Rodini, we’ve been creating Upcycling collections since 2013 – made from leftover fabrics, unsold garments, and other unused resources from our own production. The goal is simple: to reduce waste by using what already exists, instead of producing new.

Overproduction is one of the fashion industry’s biggest environmental challenges. While many companies burn or discard unsold items, Mini Rodini has never accepted this practice. Instead, we design new limited-edition pieces using what’s already in our warehouse – giving fabrics and garments a second life. This approach is part of our broader work to avoid unnecessary waste, extend the lifespan of materials, and turn surplus into something meaningful.

“Our Upcycling collections are proof that high-quality fabrics and garments never have to go to waste.Instead of discarding leftover materials, we turn them into new, limited-edition collections – giving unused fabrics a second life and creating something meaningful from what already exists.”

— Cassandra Rhodin, Founder and Creative Director

Our Upcycling Collections

Making garments can create a lot of textile waste and is a huge environmental issue. Through Mini Rodini’s Upcycling collections, which we started in 2013, we utilize the leftover fabric from the production, to make new clothes. This is both reducing fabric waste and lowering our climate impact. Instead of throwing away or burning leftover fabrics we create Mini Rodini Upcycling collections using leftover fabric to make new garments. That's a win-win for us and our customers who love to see their favorite prints return in new collections. Since 2013 we have saved more than 18 tonnes of waste fabric in total.

CLIMATE IMPACT

The textile industry is one of the most polluting industries in the world, accounting for around 10% of global CO₂ emissions according to a report from the European Parliament. As a clothing company, we have a responsibility to minimise our environmental footprint — and at Mini Rodini, we’re committed to keeping our carbon emissions as low as possible.

We do this by taking concrete action: choosing materials with a lower climate impact (like recycled polyester instead of virgin), applying a no-flight policy for incoming goods, and designing garments that are made to last and stay in circulation longer.

Since 2021, we’ve been measuring our annual carbon emissions using the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol to identify our highest-impact areas. This helps us prioritise our efforts where they matter most.

TRACEABILITY

In our garment supply chain, Mini Rodini works with several manufacturing suppliers who assemble the garments from fabric. These suppliers, in turn, purchase fabric and trims from their own suppliers, who source yarn from spinning mills, and so on – all the way down to the farms and fields where the raw fibre is produced. These levels are referred to as tiers in the supply chain.

Most clothing companies only work directly with the factories that assemble the garments – known as tier 1 suppliers. But this limited scope often means having little to no insight into the working conditions or practices further down the supply chain, such as where fabrics are woven or fibres are harvested.

At Mini Rodini, we believe it’s essential to have full insight into how our garments are made – from fibre to finished piece. Only with that knowledge can we ensure that our standards for human rights, animal welfare, and environmental impact are upheld at every step.

Our goal is to trace 100% of our products, from raw material to finished garment – and we’ve come a long way toward reaching that target.

SHIPPING

At Mini Rodini, our commitment to sustainability doesn’t end with production – it also includes packaging and transport. That’s why we have a strict no air freight policy for all incoming shipments. This means we avoid flying products from our production countries to our warehouse in Sweden. Instead, we use sea freight, which has a significantly lower climate impact.

This approach requires more planning and longer lead times - but it’s a conscious choice we gladly make to reduce our emissions.

As a global brand with customers around the world, we still rely on some air freight for deliveries from our warehouse to end customers. This is something we continuously evaluate, and our long-term goal is to phase out air transport entirely.

PACKAGING

Our strict material standards apply not only to the garments we produce, but also to the packaging they come in. At Mini Rodini, we have a clear No Virgin Plastic policy. This means we don’t use plastic bags in our stores, and all of our gift boxes are made from certified paper.

When shipping and storing our products, protection is essential – so we use recycled plastic polybags, which we have found to have the lowest climate impact compared to alternatives like paper bags. This conclusion is based on a full evaluation of the environmental footprint of various packaging materials.

All cartons and paper used in our packaging are sourced from certified materials, to ensure responsible forestry and reduce environmental impact.

SUPPLIER RELATIONSHIPS

At Mini Rodini, we only work with suppliers who share our vision: producing high-quality garments under fair working conditions and with as little environmental impact as possible. Building long-term partnerships is key to making this vision a reality.

Close collaboration allows suppliers to plan ahead, which helps ensure safe and fair working conditions — including reducing the risk of excessive overtime. It also gives us the opportunity to work together on improvements over time.

We aim to build lasting relationships with our suppliers, based on stability, transparency, and mutual trust. This includes sharing forecasts and planning together.

Long-term commitments also give suppliers the confidence to invest in social and environmental initiatives, without fearing that the extra costs will jeopardize their business. You can learn more about our supplier relationships and sustainability work in our latest sustainability report.
