Tencel TM

Welcome to our guide of a wonderful sustainable fabric that a large portion of our clothes are made from, TENCEL™ Lyocell.

Lyocell is a pioneer in the sustainable textiles industry, known as a more sustainable version of viscose. Lyocell is derived from forested wood (mainly eucalyptus trees), and an overall majority of our Lyocell is sourced from sustainable forestry (FSC-certified - which guarantees responsible felling and replanting of the trees). Most of our Lyocell is made by the Austrian producer Lenzing and is called TencelLyocell. They have state of the art machinery that holds the highest environmental standards.

The production is made in a closed loop process, meaning 99% of all chemicals and water is recycled instead of being released into the environment. The fibers are certified as compostable and biodegradable, and can therefore fully revert back to nature. There’s also a lot less water and land needed in production compared to the production of cotton, for example. The result is a beautiful material that’s soft, breathable, and durable.

Why do we use Tencel™ Lyocell in our basic collection?

Mini Rodini was born and raised with the vision to make clothes kids love to wear, without compromising environmental and social aspects of the production. We always choose to significantly lower the environmental impact and give our consumers a more sustainable option. As you might know by now, the production of TENCEL™ Lyocell has a lower impact on mother earth than cotton and other fabrics. There’s less water usage, it’s biodegradable, almost no chemicals leaked into nature,  less land needed, and less waste. Presented with these facts the choice was easy, and we hope that you now see the environmental benefits too.
